Saint Elizabeth Health Care

Mission/Mandate

Palliative and/or End-of-Life mandate within the organization:

SEHC has a solid program for orientation for all nurses that includes orientation to HPC and ongoing opportunities for continued learning in this area and other client care needs. SEHC supports nurses to participate in CAPCE and other external HPC learning events. Nurses participate in a comprehensive community nursing orientation including HPC. HPC orientation is based on the CHPCA Model to Guide Care and Nursing Standards with a key focus on the common issues. All nurses must complete the base certifications/competency assessments for community nursing prior to independently performing these skills. In addition, nurses receive education and training in region specific HPC initiatives and client needs. We have recently purchased the LEAP program to educate staff as well. We also have an educational program for Personal support workers which is based on CHPCA’s PSW training manual. This is offered both in a classroom and an online format.
